ROBERT YATES RACING TEAMS COMBINE FORCES ONCE MORE
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 14, 2007) – The NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series travels to Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend for the Kobalt Tools 500 and teamwork is the name of the game for Robert Yates Racing (RYR). The #88 and #38 teams have been sharing information and car set-ups for months, but this weekend in Atlanta both
teams will be using the same exact chassis. The teams have each been using their own chassis, both old and new, but in an Quoting Snickers Driver Ricky Rudd:
“We’re not running like we want to run, but to be honest, the biggest concern I have during these first five races is that we don’t take a huge hit in the point standings. This track has multiple grooves and that’s a big plus. You have plenty of racing room at Atlanta and that’s what I like about coming here. I have mixed emotions in regards to Atlanta because if you’re good, then you can have a great day, but if you’re off, you could have a miserable one. I’ve been on both sides of the fence there. Our car for this week looked really good in the wind tunnel but we have no idea what to expect for this weekend. We haven’t run enough races this year to really figure a pattern out yet.”
“I think the comparisons between the two cars is very similar normally but you want to rule out any differences with the two cars. The information will mean more now when we share notes this weekend since we’re running the same chassis as the #38 team. When you have things that don’t act the same you can’t truly compare notes. It should make the whole process more productive for both teams this weekend and hopefully we can have a great finish for the Snickers team.” NOTES OF INTEREST: · Rudd’s best finish at Atlanta is a win scored in 1987 while driving the #15 Motorcraft Ford. · Rudd’s best start at Atlanta to date is in second.
